How about a little dime history?
The dime, in United States usage, is a ten-cent coin, one tenth of a united states dollar, labeled formally as "one dime". The denomination was first authorized by the coinage act of 1792.
The dime is the smallest in Diameter. and is the thinnest of all U.S. coins currently minted for circulation, being 0.705 inches (17.91 millimeters) in diameter and 0.053 in (1.35 mm) in thickness. The obverse of the current dime depicts the profile of roosevelt. and the reverse boasts an olive branch, a torch, and an oak branch, from left to right respectively.
The word dime comes from the old french disme meaning "tithe" or "tenth part", from the latin decima [pars]. The dime is currently the only United States coin in general circulation that is not denominated in terms of dollars. As of 2011, the dime cost 5.65 cents to produce

Back When I first starting working with Coin Collections Here in Houston, I immediately found each Coin Collection is Unique and Different! As a Houston Coin Dealer, it took time to get know all the rare coins. It didn't matter if it were Houston, Humble, Kingwood, The Heights, The Woodlands, and even Rural Areas! Well One day I did stumble upon something very Unique! I purchased a 1796 Capped Bust Dime. What a rare and Unique dime! By the way 1796 is the First Year the United States Produced the Dime! I called up my coin buddy and then the Rambling continued...
I have been very fortunate over the Years to see some really cool coins including that rare Capped Bust Dime. It was not in Pristine condition so it wasn't worth as much as i wanted.

As I mentioned it all started with the Capped Bust, then came the Heraldic Eagle Reverse, then the Capped Bust again followed by The Liberty Seated Dime.
Liberty Seated Dime had 5 types of Dimes with Variations!
Variety 1- No Stars on Obverse, Variety 2 -Stars on Obverse, Variety 3- Arrows At Date, Variety 2 Resumed, With Weight Standard of Variety, Variety 4- Legend on Obverse, Variety 5 -Arrows at Date
Then came the Barber or Liberty Head Dimes which were made for over 20 Years! Then came the Winged Liberty Head or as alot of people call the Mercury Dime!!
And then Finally came the Roosevelt Dimes which were started at 1946 and still produced today!!
